TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy is on the watch list for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award.

McElroy was one of the 30 quarterbacks selected to the list, which was released Wednesday.

He helped guide Alabama to the national championship last season. McElroy was named MVP of the Southeastern Conference championship game and threw only four interceptions in 14 games.

Ryan Mallett of Arkansas is the only other SEC quarterback to make the preseason list.
