Alabama Men’s Basketball over Maryland 62-42
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico. – The No. 16/15 Alabama Men’s Basketball team blew by ACC-foe Maryland Thursday, 62-42, in the first round of the Puerto Rico Tip Off. With the win, the Crimson Tide opens the season at 3-0 for the first time under third-year head coach Anthony Grant. Junior forward Tony Mitchell led the way for UA (3-0, 0-0 SEC) with a 17 point, 11 rebound performance including 3-of-4 from beyond the three-point arc. Sophomore guard Trevor Releford added 10 points and four rebounds, while sophomore guard Charles Hankerson logged eight points and five rebound off the bench.
Alabama’s largest lead of the half came with 1:02 left in the game after a Hankerson lay-up to make it 62-37. The Tide is now 72-53 all-time against current members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
